Hardware for wireless lighting control

Hello,

We are working on a prototype for a wireless residential lighting system. The goal is to be able to switch clusters of LED lights on/off with either a wireless wall switch (possibly using RF signals) or a mobile device through Wi-Fi. However, we are new to Arduino and are unsure how to incorporate parallel control with both types of wireless devices. Any suggestions on what types of hardware we should purchase (we already bought an Arduino Uno and a Wi-Fi Shield)?

We have DC powered LED bulbs and doing all the wiring ourselves.

The system will first be primarily run on 12V DC battery power, but we hope to be able to include an option to switch to residential 120V AC power for when the battery runs out of juice.

Thanks!
