Has anyone tried 2KM Long Range RF from seeedstudio?

This one:

Spec:

Working volt : 5V
Working current: ?2.5mA(5.0VDC)
principle of work: Superhet?VCO, PLL?
Modulation?OOK/ASK
Working band: 433.92MHz (customize service available)
Bandwidth: 1.5MHz
Sensitivity: -105dBm (50?)
Rate: ?5Kbps
Decoding form?PT2272
Antenna length: 18cm
Emission Distance: 2 KM

This module really can transfer data upto 2 km? It's hard to believe that he is so powerful.

I need a transmitter to broadcast to ~ 1 km away (not in pure open space), what do you can recommend me besides this?

If the unit is only pulling < 2.5 ma at 5 volts with 105dBm sensitivity you would be lucky to get a couple of hundred metres.

Try the RFM22B from Sparkfun (http://www.sparkfun.com/products/10153) or direct from Hope electronics.

Also you could look at the various Zigbee modules (amplified versions or around 20dBm output (100mW)). The Digi units are quite popular but I find the ones from Meshnetics (Atmel) and Telegesis have better performance.

Thanks, I'll try to order and use 50mW Zigbee module from SparkFun.
