Has anyone used a single-axis joystick like this?

Hi all,

I have a need for two one-axis joysticks. On eBay they sell these:

Has anyone used these, and, do they need some circuit board to be installed before they can be used with Arduino?

Many thanks!

Those look like two axis joysticks.
You can wire them directly to an Arduino.

Thanks! I will 3D print a housing for this and restrict movement to one axis.

Are the pins 5V, ground, x value and y value?

What values does that thing send?

They're just like a pair of pots, and pushing down hits the button you can clearly see in the first pic on the right.

And you can literally see the pins in the second pic. 2 sets of 3 pins like pots, and the 4 legs of a common microbutton.

Ah silly me! Of course. I thought the legs as connectors. Thank you very much! I must order a couple.
