I don't know what happened. I tried this out a couple weeks ago, uploaded a sketch to a 328p and everything was fine. I thought I actually did it from the IDE after doing it with AVRDUDE. In any case, I can't find the port. The ide doesn't see one. There are NONE in my device manager, though I see Jungo and the mkii. The entire "Ports" folder is missing in the device manager.
I am using the mkii modification that Dave Jones did, where power is tapped from the USB. I'm getting a green LED, so that much is good. I remember having a problem downloading from the command line, but most of that had to do with the location of the hex file, IIRC. I'm not sure where it's supposed to go. Adafruit tutorial said, the root directory, but that wasn't it, again, IIRC.

I'm getting "ser_open(): can't open device..." in avrdude command line
I also tried reinstalling the ftdi drivers (executable) because that's been an issue on my 7-64 machines with the IDE.
I also should have mentioned that I only have one actual Arduino board. Unfortunately, it's running an incubator at the moment, so it won't be available for about another week to try programming it.
Update: Attached is command prompt of avrdude.
It's still failing. I'm hoping someone here can decipher the verbose output attached. I have tried on two computers, with two different avr programmers and having the same problem, same error. I double checked my programmer board, ziff socket/6 headerpin, no power or crystal. Plain Jane board. Worked before. Device manager is seeing it, but I get no com in the Arduino IDE.
PLEASE HELP!
