Basically whichever port i try my arduino exits upload with a code "1" and the board shows as unknown and there are no comms that are other than my uno

PS. its the one with the microchip embedded
See if Port monitor error: command 'open' failed: Invalid serial port. Could not connect to COM serial port - #49 by ptillisch will solve the issue.
That is normal for boards with a generic serial-to-usb adapter.
