I connected the TX RX pins of the Bluetooth device I had by mistake to the SDA and the RX (serial 1 port in the Mega) pin and it got heated. It stopped working after that. Is it that the Bluetooth device will not work anymore? Is there anyway I can rectify that?
The HC05 modules work in slave role by default. Try to power it using ground and Vcc pins and scan it using your phone. If it is visible, it should work. I am not sure about it though. Good luck.

I checked that and the BT is visible but it isn't sending or receiving any data. I used a spare BT device and checked. That worked. I think there is something wrong with this one! Thank you anyway!
You are implying that you connected Rx to Rx, which may be the real reason why it didn't work.
