Good-day! All;

I’ve noticed that my HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor is consistently half an inch off. I verified this by testing on a flat surface, a solid target a tape measure. I could make adjustments in my sketches but I’d rather have the sensor as precise as possible.

Is this “small” discrepancy normal for this caliber of sensor, or is there a procedure for calibrating the HC-SR04?

There is no calibrating the HC-SR04 sensor, itself. The error may be in your math. What is the number you are using for the speed of sound? Temperature can have a small effect on the speed of sound.
