HC12 - out of ordinary use

Hello everyone!
Working on making a VERY simple "fox hunt" transmitter for HAM radio use. (To get this out of the way, I am a licensed operator and can use 70cm band legally).

My goal in this project is to spend $0 if possible and use all parts I have in my parts inventory.

I'm wondering - if I broadcast a tone over the pin into the HC12 board, will it broadcast a tone over the frequency? I'm not looking to broadcast data or have any readable data come across the frequency, just to have a audible tone broadcasting in CW (morse code) that your HT can listen in to, to help you locate the transmitter.

If you mean this HC-12 module, then no, you cannot broadcast a tone. It is a serial UART-controlled digital transceiver.

I'd fire it up and see what the signal sounds like on your receiver. Without looking at the data sheet for the transceiver, I predict it might sound like bursts of packet radio traffic. if you happen to have a cheap microcontroller chip like an ATtiny in you parts inventory you could use that to program it to operate on applying power.
