Help. Arduino wouldn't connect

My Arduino Uno is not lighting up when I connect my laptop to it. I've tried using 2 data cables and 2 laptops , and still no luck. My Arduino's ON led doesn't even light up. It turns on for a fraction of a second when the cable is entered halfway through. Please help I have a competition in 3 days !

Edit :- It was my fault not the arduino's. I stupidly connected two 5V instead of one 5v and one GND. That's why the arduino just shut down and heated up incredibly high. I was visibly able to see sparks from the board. Sorry its my bad. Thanks for helping

Sounds like it's stuffed.

Is the Arduino Uno recognised by the IDE?

No. It doesnt show up in COM3. The board is excessively heating up near the port .

What does that mean?

Post a picture of the hardware setup.

I have tried to turn it on with vin and 5v ports. It has to be a board issue I think

Disconnect all cables from the Arduinio and check again.

Yep seems to do the trick. Thank you so much
And also I will let you know if my model works .

Take care and keep in mind the Arduino isn´t a power supply unit.

What does that mean ? ( sorry i recently started arduino )

The Arduino isn´t made to power supply external hardware like servos, relais etc.
