help controlling 100 LED.

i am planning to control 100 leds over 74hc595 with chasing effect, but i found out that require alot of wires( wire each led to each ouput).

is there another way to control 100 leds to have chasing effect, 100 leds is placing into that path in the picture below
is there any existing product that can do that.

will those work:

How about LED strips with individually addressable LEDs, as suggested in a earlier topic of yours?
Example:

Other options will require wiring to each LED, usig MAX7219 to control 64 LEDs each for example,
or a shift register card where each shift register controls 8 LEDs. This board for example can do 96 LEDs. Connect cathodes to the board, and tie all anodes to V+.
Prewired LEDs with current limit resistors are available on e-bay.

74HC595 also not a good choice, limited current sink/source capability. TPIC6B595 much better, 150mA per pin current sink capability.

can i know the size of this board

I think it's 95mm x 95mm. Definitely under 100mm x 100mm.

another question, so that LED strip is able to control each LED with 1 pin? and you can make program them with the chasing effect?

Yes. Uses these chips

The library provides the timing shown on page 4 to create the data that each chip ends up with.

The only drawback is you have live with the spacing provided by the strip.
You can also buy individual LEDs

and run ribbon cable from one to the next. Didn't sound like you have time for that tho.

Hey CrossRoads, that board looks pretty cool, it kind of reminds me of something out of an old 8088xt box.. maybe ram chips or something. None the less it is definitely cool looking.
