Help figuring out circuit diagram

Hello! So I am attempting to build an acoustic levitator, but before I start, I want to make sure I fully understand the circuit diagram and what I will be doing.

I attached a photo of what I will be following below. At the bottom of the image, a diode is attached to the battery and to the Arduino board. However, towards the right, it seems as though the wire the diode is connected to branches off and connects to the breadboard, as well. I am very confused. Would I connect the diode to some jumper wires? Is there a such thing as a three-branch jumper wire?! The same thing happens to the black wire right above it.

It would be greatly appreciated it somebody could help me figure out what is going on. The tutorial to the project is here: Mini Acoustic Levitation .

Thanks!

L293D is a slow chip, what frequencies are you contemplating.

The diode appears to be lowering the supply voltage into the Vin pin for some reason. Doesn't seem
particularly useful.

The diode may be reverse polarity protection for the Uno power supply.
