help for Quadricopther

Hi,
I wanted to make a quadricopter myself using arduino for stabilizing and controlling it. What motors and what kind of helix should i use?
In order to have a low cost machine i chose brushed motors and i bought this one Brushed Aeromodelli - Casa Del Modellismo . I've tried to make it fly with helix which width was 7"x4 and with another which was 10"x4 but it didn't fly.... Which helix should i use?
(for the moment i'm not intrested on sensors, battery or nothing else, i just want it to fly even for just a second)
thanks

That motor is designed for use with reduction gears. For direct drive you want a motor of something more like 1000 rpm/volt - that motor is 17,900 rpm/volt and will fail to produce anything like enough torque. Its also 58% efficient so will likely run too hot at the power levels needed. RC brushless motors are more like 85--95% efficient and don't get nearly so hot at high power levels, and are smaller/lighter for a given mechanical power.

A while back I came across this calculator for static thrust for RC model propellers, it might be a good starting point:
