Help identifying sensor (taken from a BMW headlight)

Got this sensor from the auto leveling fixture of a BMW X3 headlight. It is probably a tilt sensor because of the place it was fixed.
The round black part (the sensor itself) can attract metal parts with relative strenght. The sensor has some passive components under epoxy and a 3 wire interface.
the markings on the sensor are:
"D451JPD
636
0345"

and the BMW part number is 1 307 212 005

any help identifying this sensor is appreciated.

thanks in advance.

First, why do you want to know the pinout, what are your plans with it ?

As it is bearing the Allegro marking, it is a Hall-sensor for sure.

Thanks Zapro!

I want to know the pinout and specs of this sensor so I can reuse it in another projects.

I'm afraid of "trying" the pins and damage the sensor.

If you are not going to use the sensor in the environment it was meant for (in the headlight, reading a tilt angle) i guess you will have a very hard time using it.

It it special engineered for a purpose, and you could use vast amount of time trying to figure out the connections to it.

You can get 5 new Hall sensors for next to nothing: http://goo.gl/iKqLq

These have data sheets and are suitable for use with the Arduino. I am pretty sure that the hall sensor from the BMW is meant for a 12V supply, and that is no good using that on an arduino.

If you want to use that BMW sensor, first thing you gotta do, find out what car it sits in, and then find a complete wiring diagram for that car, good luck!!!

Have a look here for the BMW wiring diagram:
