I am a seventh grader participating in my school science fair. I want to make a smart backpack/binder to prevent students from leaving their homework at home, or just forgetting to do it all together. So, my idea is to have some kind of circuit in the backpack, and a proximity sensor in the binder. When somebody gets homework, they tell their smartphone what the homework is and when it is due. The smartphone gets the information to the backpack and binder which now knows that they are carrying homework. So if the binder carrying the homework is not taken out by the time it is due or a little before, then the backpack sounds an alarm and texts you. If you take the binder out and don't put it back in the backpack it also sounds an alarm. What kind of boards do I need and what kind of sensors do I need to make this project happen?
