I have an arduino duemilanove and it will receive power through usb but after changing computers and cords it will not transmit or receive any data. Could the USB controller be bad? I have only had this arduino for a few days and I just got a new LCD and now I cannot upload code for it because the arduino does not communicate with the computer. I plug it in and the power and LED light turns on but not the tx or rx. Please help!
i think i had this problem too when i restored my com to factory settings and plugged in the arduino.. not sure if it applies to you but i reinstalled the the two drivers and checked the serial port and board selection and everything worked ok.. maybe i was just lucky..
Unfortunately, that didn't work for me. >:(
When you plug your arduino into your computer go into device manager and find your arduino there. Your computer will register devices there even if you don't have the appropriate FTDI drivers. You may see it with an exclamation point which means that it has a conflict, in which case you should read the message contained therein.
If you cannot find it in device manager then you have a hw conflict in which case you should double check your cable and connections. Don't assume sth is faulty until you have tried different USB ports and/or cables.
I hope this helps!
