Help needed! First time user looking for starting advise (LED Control)

Hello all!

I am new to the arduino world and I am looking for some starting guidance.

I have an arcade cabinet that i am putting SPDT momentary buttons on.

It is a lunix system running OpenITG (In The Groove)

I currently have the buttons working with using an iPAC for input and PACdrive for LED control. The thing is that 4 buttons are using one port on the PAC Drive for the LED control. The game will light all 4 at once. I want them to do that but also light up individually when they are pressed. The iPAC is set up as keyboard input. I am hoping to find a solution with an arduino for when that individual key input comes from that button being pressed i can light that individual button from the arduino.

The game does not have the ability to operate the button lights individually which is why i would like to use an arduino to help.

Is this something that is possible?

Thanks!

Brandon

Is this anything to do with what you are using? I have no idea what you are referring to by iPAC and PACcontrol.

Please provide links to what you a using. Not everyone knows the acronyms for all interests.

Sorry!

Here are links to the iPAC and PACDrive

I didnt put links to these as i was only giving the info on the setup since they wouldnt be used for the solution im trying to find... if that makes sense? ha

Does this mean we can forget all about the iPAC as it is not part of what you want?

If so, start again and tell us, in detail, what you want to do with the Arduino.

Yes and no.

The only info we will need from the iPAC is that it simulate key presses from a keyboard.

What I would like....if the button is pressed it'll send the signal to the iPAC and the iPAC will come back and tell the computer "A" was pressed. I want to see if I can use an ardunio for when "A" is pressed, activate a certain LED

It could be any letter. The ipac is programmable.

Or I think another option would be running the buttons to the iPAC and also to the arduino.

Is it possible for have the arduino sense and input and then output an LED as long as the button is being pressed?
