Help Needed: Garage Door Coding

For a final project in our engineering class we need to design and code a garage door. I am having trouble with the coding so that the motor only moves to a certain degree to open the door, and how to make it move in the opposite direction to close. Any suggestions as to how we can code for the motor to start by the push of a button and rotate 90 degrees, and then have a second button press move the garage door in the opposite direction 90 degrees would be greatly appreciated. Our teacher didn't really make an effort to go over arduino with the class so we are struggling. Thank you so much for your time!

A great place to start...

Welcome.

What hardware have you been given to do this?

There are examples in the IDE that show you how master basic programming and hardware.

There is a 'Learning tab' at the top of this screen you should review including the 'Reference' section.

We can help you when you run into problems, but you have to put the effort into this assignment before we can help out.

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.

Please read the first post in any forum entitled how to use this forum.
http://forum.arduino.cc/index.php/topic,148850.0.html then look down to item #7 about how to post your code.
It will be formatted in a scrolling window that makes it easier to read.

Have you built a full size or scale model of your garage door for the project?

What are you using for a motor?

Thanks.. Tom...
