I've been using some am2302(which is a dht22 sensor in an plastic enclosure with hookup wires attached from adafruit) temperature/humidity sensors in my chameleons's terrarium to monitor the temperature and humidity(obviously). The problem ive been having is they are not very resistant to the higher higher humidity that the cham needs. After a while it starts getting corrosion on the boards inside or becomes inconsistent. Does, any one have any sensors that i could use instead or ways to keep the humidity from affecting them so much while still accurately reading it?
Waterproof DS18B20 temperature sensors are readily available so you can solve that problem easily.
However, to measure the humidity the sensor needs to be actually exposed to that humidity so I am not sure what you are after??
Maybe a higher quality sensor might work ??
There is a sensor like the AM2302 that is ment to measure the soil moisture.
They can not measure below freezing temperature, but can handle high levels of moisture.
I think it is at www.adafruit.com or www.sparkfun.com, but I can't find it right now.
I have worked on a board with a Si7005 from silicon labs. It has a film on top to avoid liquids entering the sensor. And a heater you can turn on to remove condensation (didn't use it though).
They were giving free eval USB dongles with the sensor. I don't know if it still applies.
