i have a Huge Problem. My USB conector on the board broke off.
Now my question: can I cut the conector off my USB cable so I get the 4 wires inside and solder Them directly to the board? Is there any scematic baecuse I cant find anything in the Internet. I cant solder the conector back to the board because my soldering iron is to thick.
Thanks for your help
(In the USB cable are 4 wires : Red, black, white, green. In the arduino are 5 solder points. How do i connect the cable)
So I made a bit research but I need one that verifys my theory. I got the schematics from the arduino site klick
And the USB layout from Here (look under 'Conectors')
Now i made my theory LOOK but i am not sure if its right and there is one unused pin in the board (4 )
i think the footprint of the micro usb would be impossible to solder with thats why i think the simplest solution would be to get a usb to serial adapter from ebay which should cost no more than 3 £
and then connect the TX with the RX, RX with the TX and the VCC From the adapter to VIN board and GND to GND

OK thanks im lucky and have one of thoes.
But can I also use the keyboars.print() function with this Adapter ? I hope i can
Hot air soldering is a well known technique of rework. Set the gun to about 430C apply liquid flux, hold the socket in tweezers and heat it up at the same time heating the PCB holding the two parts close together. When the solder melts place the socket on the PCB, position the socket and then take the heat gun off. Do not move while it cools.

OK i have already destroyed my board so i cant do anything wrong ill try it...
It looks to me like the pads got ripped off... in which case you can't solder it back on with hot air, or anything else, and you'd need to hack on a USB cable.
In that case, your only real hope is to either find where the other ends of those traces go, and solder the wires from a USB cable on there, or scrape some of the solder mask away from where the pads were, and try to solder with that. The end result will be very fragile, and once it works, protect the joints from stress with hot glue or something, and firmly glue the cable onto the board as well, to prevent strain.
