Help w/ understanding difference between Bluetooth mod. & a Xbee BT

Fellow builders :slight_smile:

It's time for me to explore networking modules.

I'm quite confused with the options available for Bluetooth-ing :cold_sweat:

  • What's the difference between a standard Bluetooth module (say HC-05), and an Xbee Bluetooth module (again, with HC-05 chip)?

Could you give me reasons why and when to choose one over the other, their advantages and disadvantages please?

XBee <> HC-05

  1. convenience
  2. several dollars.

I believe the XBee is 3.3v while the HC-05 is normally mounted on a JY-MCU board and hence runs on 5v.
