Help with AI project idea

hi everyone. ive been playing with arduino for a while now, and while i really enjoy it, i know very little. i try other peoples projects, and find enjoyment in that. coding is beyond my skillset, but i enjoy building others projects none the less. i find it a good and healthy distraction.

i have seen some AI personal assistants that have been built with arduino. im really hoping its possible to create something similar for a specific purpose.

my wife has mental health problems, she is diagnosed with BPD, CPTSD, anxiety and depression. This takes a massive toll on her, our kids and myself. She finds therapy a challenge. Everyday i wish moe than anything that i could help her more than i already do (or try to do), but the nature of the disorder is to retreat and try to cope alone.

i was hoping there was some way i could build an AI chatbot, that is linked into a subscription based mental health app, that would log in via our wifi here, and she could use that to talk to. i know this can be simply achieved on a laptop, but id like to build something so it has a personal touch. if this is impossible, please dont shoot me down. ive latched onto this idea and its the only thing thats giving me hope at the moment.

i know almost nothing when it comes to arduino, ive watched these forums for years, admiring the intelligence of the regulars in here. im hoping some of you may be ale to guide me in the right direction. seeing my wife struggle is killing me, and ill do anything i can to help.

thanks to everyone for reading.

Hello homebuilder80

Welcome to the best Arduino Forum ever

Where do you see an added value by using an Arduino?

Do not try to solve human issues with hobby electronics. Find real treatment from real professionals. After real life is taken care of, your hobby is yours to enjoy and share.

I just saw AI chatbot personal assistants being used with arduino, i thought it might be possible. Id buy something already built off the shelf if i could. And using a laptop seems inpersonal. If that makes sense?

I understand entirely. But i also know people who use these apps and find benefit. I understand what youre saying, but if you were in my shoes, youd understand the need.

You should start with a structured analysis in order to recognise the advantages and disadvantages for the project.

I suppose for a start, im wondering if its even possible. The idea i had was something that could automatically log into a website that has an existing mental health chatbot, each time the device was turned on. These websites and platforms are available, and can be accessed with a laptop. Assuming a sound wifi connection, it would require decent processing speed to turn voice to text, sumbit to server and return a response. In the first instance, im wondering if this is even possible.

It is normal to feel you are the only one to be "in your shoes" and isolated. Keep your eyes and ears open. You will soon understand others are, or have been "there." Check if your employer provides health benefits. Some benefits include mental health services. Use it to its full extent. Seek sympathy in the right place. I would not bring construction issues to my florist.

First, could you give a link to details of those please? It might give us a clearer picture of your objective.

But meanwhile my initial suggestion is to drop the idea of using an Arduino device and focus on your laptop approach. Apart from essentially establishing an initial online connection to the site(s) to which you refer, I see no useful Arduino contribution.

Also, have to say I’m surprised that you believe its “simple to do on a laptop”. But then I’m not sure I’ve fully grasped what “it” involves.

Switching to an entirely different possible Arduino application area - which could deliver your fully understandable desire to do something practical and tangible to help your wife - perhaps consider some use of the DFR Player?
