Help with Arduino rev and "2.8" TFT Touch Shield

Hello All,

I have been using the 2.8" TFT Touch Shield for Arduino with Resistive Touch Screen for a project for quite sometime successfully on a custom board. I have included the schematic in the attachment. I recently was required to update my arduino IDE from 1.0.6 to 1.6.7. Once this update was done I lost functionality of the Shield. I updated to the latest libraries provided by Adafruit.

When I run the "touch paint" example in the Adafruit_ILI9341 library I get the following error message:
Touch Paint!
Couldn't start touchscreen controller

Also the "graphictest" example in the Adafruit_ILI9341 library is not working.

What is strange is that if run the same code using an Arduino Mega and the shield it works fine but the custom board does not.

If I revert back to Arduino 1.0.6 the custom boards and screen works just fine. I would really like to get this working with 1.6.7. Any suggestions as to why things work fine with 1.0.6 but not with 1.6.7?? Any solutions?

I installed 1.6.4 and I have the same issue.

I have checked for differences between the Wire and SPI libraries between 1.0.6 and 1.6.7 and there are none that i could see. I included the schematics of the 2560 board in the first post and compared it to the mega. I can't see what would cause it to loose functionality. The interface with the MISO, MOSI, and SCK pins are identical.

I cant help but think I am missing something simple...

Anyone know of changes to Arduino IDE that would cause this?

I had to do some hacking on my board but I was able to change the pin assignments from:
#define STMPE_CS 79
#define TFT_CS 53
#define TFT_DC 77

To:

#define STMPE_CS A10
#define TFT_DC A8
#define TFT_CS A9

This fixed the issue. I still do not understand why the original pin assignments will work with 1.0.6 and not with 1.6.x?? Can anyone shed any light on this??

needed to update the pins_arduino.h file... not that anyone seems to care :stuck_out_tongue:
