Hello!
I'm trying to connect arduino with my POSIFLEX PD-2200 Pole Display. (datasheet: EET UK)
I can connect it to PC with DB9 cable and I've already tested it with Visual Basics serial COMM. It worked great.
I don't have MAX3323E or similar but i have 202ECBNZ. (datasheet: http://www.intersil.com/data/fn/fn4315.pdf)
I've found it in old barcode scanner.
So can someone just look over datasheet and tell me if I can use it instead of MAX3323E?
I've also found shematics for RS232 Shifter. (http://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/Prototyping/RS232-Shifter-v2.pdf)
Will this work with arduino?
If it will..can I use other PNP and NPN transistors as mentioned in shematics. And can someone explain what things on the right side are? I guess lower right are how to wire led to RX and TX but I don't understand picture above it.
Thanks in advance
Urbim
The intersil part will work fine, just like a MAX3232.
The shifter will also work, that is similar to, possibly even the same, as the circuit used on the Serial Arduino.
If you look at its schematic (in the hardware index section) I think it uses BC546m, BC547, something like that. I got some from dipmicro.com for very low cost to have to play with.
"things on the right side " I assume you refer to the LEDs? Those are just activity indicators, LEDs turn on when the Rx and Tx line is low.
That's great!
I guess I will try the Shifter first and then the Intersil.
I will post the results as soon as I get my arduino back. (aprox. 1 week)
CrossRoads:

Actually I was thinking about the square above the LEDs.
Thank you very much.

Oh, that's just a header connector block.
