I am trying to make a wireless system with one of the mote to be connected to the arduino apart from zigbee. I wanted to know if Mica2dot or telosB are compatible/ can be interfaced with this microcontroller?
Thanks

I am not sure if you are referring to the Moteino when you use the term "mote". Let me tell you about my experience with that product.
I ordered four of them to be the basis of a home network. They operate on either 5 v. or 3.3 v, but the onboard radio is 3.3 v. only. I set up a 3.3 v. power rail to power the mote and a fancy 320x480 display worth about $30. Guess what. When I hooked up the USB connector from the computer for programming, the 3.3v. power rail went up to 5v. Good design, heh? Fortunately, the display was not connected at that time.
Problem 2. These units work fine in some simple circumstances. But I an designing a completely asynchronous network of various types of sensors and control elements around the house. And the network will be very asynchronous, with messages of various lengths. Consequently, I had timer events operating for different reasons in my software. The radios didn't seem to communicate reliably when there were timer events.
I posted some of my code to the mote forum, and Felix (the head honcho) told me that I didn't dare use timers. I informed Felix that God put timers in microcontrollers because nature was fickle, and I couldn't imagine writing code without timers. Felix came back and told me that I had to really learn to code, and not just try to google stuff up and paste it together. Felix is quite stuck on himself, obviously, and probably won't be listening to constructive criticism anytime soon. I was probably writing code before Felix's mother was born.
Anyway, I had to abandon $100 worth of motes, and I subsequently developed my own home brew unit, which works fine with any kind of events. One of these days I might put it online and compete with Felix.
If you've already invested in Motes, it is possible to rewire them and find a non-Felix library for them. I bought some RFM-22B's, designed a Nano-radio combination from them which is now the primary engine of my home network nodes. Good luck.
