Hello! Im gonna make an automatic caravan leveler! I dont really know what motor i need to screw down the legs. the legs screw down by screwing on a threaded rod! Any recommendation on how big motor i need or how could i somehow calculate it?
post a picture of the threaded rod system that seems to exist today
there is a low tech solution to this otherwise
That is a pretty BIG project. Will your motor turn a threaded rod(lead screw) or will it turn a nut on the screw?
Have you already designed and tested the system, EXCEPT for the motor? If not, get all that done and working, then you can determine the motor. Are you going to attempt to use one motor or are you going to use 4 motors?
How will Yu protect the motor from the climate? Likely You buy attenuators made for the environment.
This is how the legs looks today! I can either turn the nut or the thread from the back ! Caravan|500x300

Thnx for the fast reply! The motor can either turn the rod or the nut in the other end it doesnt really matters. I have started designing and are setting up a mini version of it. I think im gonna use 4 seperate motor so its easier to move one leg at a time!
Yes I dont have the caravan here right now but i looks like that you turn the rod on the end and the legs moves downwards!
Actually it will the basis of how you design the entire project. Don't minimize the difference!!
What do you think is the easiest?
How many and what type of thrust bearings will be needed for each type? How to you intend to control the flexing of a threaded rod?
Just pick a motor that is "more than big enough" and you will be fine.
