I have modified a potentiometer by removing its stopping mechanism so i want to know that now if i connect this potentiometer with my arduino will it be causing any adverse effect on my arduino like frying it up because of sudden drop in resistance as the potentiometer turns free now.
If the slider is between the two end points, it might not make contact with something. When an input pin is not connected, the value can be anything and it might pick up static electricity.
so will it fry the arduino.......
No, not is everything close, like on a breadboard or so.
Every pins of the Arduino that is not used, is actually 'floating'.
