Hello, so I have a nifty 3D Printer that has a computer application, which tells me what the status of my prints are, and my printer does get plugged into one of the USB ports of my computer. I also have a TFT LCD Screen which I know how to program however I am wondering if it is possible to have an Arduino know the status of my print, to which I can print that data to my screen and have a little TFT Montier! Please help if this is possible.
I am sure it's possible if you have the source code for the PC program and can add code to it to send the information to you Arduino.

Hi Paul, I am using a Mac but do not know how to access that kind of information. Can you possibly help me with that?

Have you contacted the manufacturer of the printer?
Paul
Funny thing that the manufacturer just went out of business
Ah, is that Application – Package Contents – Code Signature?
If so, this I have found the code
No, you have found a checksum

Don't you think it would help if you told us what specific printer you have and what specific program you have for your PC.
As the printer communicates with the PC using a USB cable you would need a USB Host shield for your Arduino AND you would have to hope that the shield could recognize your printer.
I have an ANET A2 printer that has an LCD screen on it. I never use the LCD screen - I find it very much easier to control the printer from a laptop using the PronterFace program.
This is the sort of problem for which you may get better information on the RepRap Forum.

Octoprint is designed with a Raspberry pi in mind...the version is called Octopi. Sounds like it would do what you need.
