Help with remote switches

Hi Guys I'm fairly new to this and could do with some help.
I want to use one nano to send signals to another.
nano one will be a bank of 5 switches
Nano two will copy the output status of each switch.
I want to use the minimum of connections between .
I think I2c is the way to go but I'm not very clued up.
Any suggestions as to where to look for help?

Dave

Why do you need 2 Nanos?

What is the distance between the two boards?

HI folks
2 nanos one tx with switches one as rx and outputs.

About 2mtrs off shielded cable between

I am not understanding what “Nano two will copy the output status of each switch” means.

I run about 50 feet of shielded cable, how many meters is that, from a Nano to an anemometer with a reed switch in it. No problems. Your switch with shielded cable should have no problem, either.
