Hi there,
I'm creating a new project that includes an Arduino (USB 2.0) and a USB 3.0 device. The Arduino and USB 3.0 device don't connect to each other, they just need to be on the same upstream USB port. Now I need a hub controller for both of these devices to go into, however, USB 3.0 Hubs are hard to come by. Got me thinking, do I necessarily need a USB 3.0 hub chip or can I get away with just a USB 2.0 hub controller? Therefore, the USB 2.0 data lines will go into the controller and the super-speed USB 3.0 data lines will go straight from the USB upstream port to my USB 3.0 device. Will this still work as intended? Or does the super-speed USB 3.0 data lines need to go into a controller as well so that the two USB devices are controlled separately?
Many thanks for any advice.
Hi Callum, I had an issue with a nano that wasn't detected on my computer when connected to a USB 3 port. Maybe there is a way of fixing the arduino to work with a USB3 port then you could splice the leads together and connect them to a single USB3 port?
Hi all,
Really sorry for not explaining this very well, I want to design my own USB hub on my own PCB.
Wasn't sure where to post this question, whether it be on the Arduino forums or any other forum thats on the WWW.
@flackattack at this point, I might as well turn it into a drinking game, buying anything electrical based at the moment is like trying to dig for gold, driving me crackers.
