I'm using an Arduino Mega 2566 (2560?) to run my Christmas display. For next year I bought an Arduino board with the esp8266 on board so I don't have to use a usb cable but wifi instead. I have tried everything I know to setting this board up but I can't get my laptop to connect to the esp8266. Can anybody help me with this? Is there somewhere I can find step by step instructions? What the heck am I missing? Thanks for any help at all.

I can't upload a sketch to the esp8266. I don't think I'll have any problem with communication between the esp8266 and the mega2560-I just can't get any communication between the esp8266 and the PC. It recognizes the esp8266 as an unknown usb device and won't communicate with it.
I believe there are jumpers in the board to route the USB-serial converter to either the Mega2560 or ESP8266 chip...

you need to set the jumpers correctly and if its like mine when you program it you have to hold down the black button while it is programming.
