Would it be worth putting in brackets rather than assume BODMAS?
float numerator = ((100 * 100) + (C * C) - (100 * 100));
If what you are trying do is;
100 squared plus c squared - 100 squared
which will equal C squared.
What are you trying to do with this equation?
Can you please draw a diagram showing your angles and sides.
