high voltage(60 volt dc) serial signal

Hi guys

I have a air conditioning unit I would like to interface
with the serial signal fluctuates between 0 and 60 volts
dc what would the best way to interface with the arduino
Would a voltage divider be best or what do you guys think.

Thanks neil

I would use an opto isolator and compleatly seprate the two systems.

Can you tell which air conditioner.
I doubt if an air conditioner has an output of 60V. Perhaps it is a relay output. Perhaps you are measering the voltage wrong.

Thanks grumpy mike thats what I was thinking. But I need to verify
that the voltage does go from 0 to 60 well I know the max is 60 volts
I havent checked with a scope to see if it getting to 0 volts or
if its in between.

Hi caltoa
yes its on the serial communication which is 0 to 60 volts
the rest is all ran by 250 volt supply. I work as a air con engineer
Just teaching my self electronics .

ghanks for your help guys

60 volts ? That sounds downright perverted!

Can you tell us, what kind of system you are working on ? (Make, model)

Very very much doubt its a serial signal with 60V swing! You need to convince
us you measured it correctly....

You also need to be convinced that it is actually a serial signal.

Hi guys
Just check the lg service manual and the voltage is fluctuating voltage max 60 volt dc

Can you post a link to the service manual, or attach a PDF?

Or even tell us which air-conditioning unit you have - this is basic information we need!
