HM-10 wont pair "An app is needed to use this device"?

Hi Guys

Bought a HM-10 bluetooth module last week. Connected power and tried to pair to it with my mobile phone. It comes up as HMSoft in the Available Devices list. If I click on it to pair, I get a "An app is needed to use this device" ??

I then tried it with a Galaxy tablet, and got the same message.

What am I missing here? Both phone and tablet are up to date.

Thanks
Glenn

You don't pair with HM-10. If your devices are BLE, you may still be OK. Try the Serial Bluetooth Terminal by Morish. It seems the best way to go these days but make sure you have set it to BLE under "Devices".

OK thanks.
Seams I may have the wrong bluetooth module. Its for a ArdusimpleRTK2B board, and one way they descript to get RTK correction data is using a mobile phone, and a arduino compatible bluetooth module paired with the phone. Then a phone app called GNSS Commander does the RTK stuff and sends correction data via bluetooth to the GPS board. But GNSS Commander is looking for paired bluetooth devices, isnt it!
Thanks for your help.

I would not have expected that to be the case, and it could be just loose language. The phone is usually the master and therefore looks for the slave. The app you mention does not show up on my phone or PC, and I can't guess if it is compatible with BLE operations.

I find it simpler when building Bluetooth/BLE apps to use an ESP32 which supports WiFi, Bluetooth Classic and BLE

Can you provide a link to GNSS Commander App.
