HM-11 Module

Hi there,
I have a question regarding the HM-11 module. I bought this module from eBay, and soldered/ wired it based on the infos given in the datasheet that came with the module:

HM-11 Module Arduino Uno

2 UART_TX --> 0 RX
4 UART_RX --> 1 TX
9 VCC (V3.3) --> 3.3V
12 GND --> GND

I assumed that after supplying the HM-11 module with power via the Arduino 3.3V plug, the module would start being discoverable on my iPhone or Android device. But it is not.

I'm fairly new to Ardurino and Bluetooth, so i'm not sure if i'm doing this right. Is it possible to connect the HM-11 module to the Ardurino this way? If yes, is there anything else i need to do to make this work?

You may have to setup the AT commands and set it in slave mode(although it should be default set). It could also just be a broken or fraudulent module. I have a few of these and one of them doesn't work or show up ever. Try sending AT and see if you get an OK back.
