HMC5884L magnetometer axis orientation

Hello! Does any body here knows the axis orientation of HMC5883L? There is a drawing of x,y,z in the data sheet, but I can't find any description of the orientation and positive values direction?

I am using it together with MicroMag3 which has a reference direction arrow on the pcb, which by user guide means that the sensor should give positive values on the X axis, when this arrow is pointing south. That means that the sensor is using south-west-down (SWD) coordinate system. I wish I could find some info like that for HMC5883L...

The drawing on page 3 of the datasheet shows you the direction of the x and y axis. As the comment below the drawing states, it's a top view (looking at the chip soldered on the PCB). The little dot in the top left corner is the pin 1 marker which you should find on the chip also. Turn the PCB so that the dot is in the same corner and the arrows show you the positive direction of the x and y axis.

The positive of the x,y,z axis, when the point at? Thats the question...

I don't see your problem. If your looking at the chip with the chip's label viewable and the pin 1 mark in the top-left corner, the x-axis is positive going down and the y-axis is positive going to the right.

I guess your question is not about the axis' direction but how to interpret the values, is it?

There are four geographical directions on this planet. Which geographical direction the sensor will give positive values, when pointed to?

Thank you amazingly very much  That's just what I've been searching for... so the answer to the question is that the orientation of the sensor's axis is north-east-down, quite different than the orientation of the MicroMag3 - south-west-down.
