I, using parts from my old mig {had 2 new migs before want to build my own "to last"}. Power unit is 2 car batteries with generator to keep charged. At present Ive set up 2 PWM which stay running when machine in use {to avoid start up delays} they are "engaged" via relay to mosfet gate. The PWM-weld relay engages "mosfet bank connecting batteries" while the 2nd PWM engages wire feed. [ Heavy currents an BEMF with welding is why Im using relays to keep micro safe ]
The system. Micro acts when trigger pulled. First pull Gas goes on {about 250 millis} to shield weld area then turns on pins for other relays {weld / wire feed / release wire roll brake} then after trigger released all stop instantly except Gas - delay for 3 seconds - then off / except - if you pull the trigger again before 3 sec up {weld / wire / break} all kick in instantly without first initial delay of 250 millis. The Gas always delays 3 seconds after trigger released.
Ive spent weeks looking at and trying code and examples, but all branch of in wounder land with numbers and code out of the blue, or give vague examples in another direction. Not much info on how to add the code like building blocks or why. My problem is in linking the switch / button with timer for one pin only {Gas} but having the other pins direct to switch {apart from initial delay {without arduino delay} for firsts shielding work area. {Why am I building my own? In the past Ive had a guts full of migs diodes crapping out - your working away then have "mig trouble" { I give diodes great credit for creating "other problems" } ....that give you "the run around," thus Im using car batteries for my ready DC, plus it has advantage of being portable off the grid, so you can even on sunny day have a solar panel hook up and work that way - with time between charging. I also have another later project in mind, using the battery system via switch to go through mosfet bank {times two alternating} and homemade hf transformer to make 230 power supply {hf then chop it and elec cap for smooth AC - thats the idea anyway} . This after buying generator and finding its not enough to run compressor - the mosfet bank Ive made should handle 10kw easy {only have to make the other side + / -} . I wamt to make my own inverter in future for "the power" and to be able to fix it should anything go wrong. Im not in the money game.
Id be grateful for any proper help. And know that with simple code {if you know how} the single chip could run PWM for weld and wire feed as well {and 230 inverter for that matter}, but i want higher frequency {for other ideas}; if any one could help would be grateful. After five weeks of wasted time - I figure its less time to ask.
Ps Im from New Zealand. Micro board is "pro-mini"
