Honey Moisture Meter for Arduino

Hi everyone! I would like to ask if there is an existing Honey Moisture Meter for Arduino out there that I can buy? Some sort of sensor and stuff for the moisture content of honey using ARDUINO? Can it be possible to build one for it in Arduino Uno?

I really need it for our project. Please HELP. Thanks

Highly unlikely. Choose another project. The only moisture sensors available are for water.

disagree
you can give it a try as moisture sensors are also used for sand/ground
or DIY - tuxgraphics.org: Remote flower watering and monitoring -

another way to measure moisture might be to send light through the honey and check if there are differences
(at least not intrusive will keep the honey pure)

but I'm thinking solutions now, back to the requirements,

  • what is the precision?
  • accuracy?
  • working range?
Can you tell some tech details of the waterlevel in honey.

Well that's one of the things they are designed for anyway so that's no surprise.
Sticking a moisture sensor in a jar of honey could show always moist or always dry. There's only one way to find out.

right
Those ebay sensors are $5 or less so it will never be a great loss.

What worries me more is that putting electricity on the honey may change its smell & taste ...

I don't care. I'm not going to eat it.

need more data.

unfortunately, the content of honey is not pure so the resistance per mm will not be constant.
the two nail probe used for soil moisture, or wood moisture is a possibility, but the base resistance would need to be known.

a humidity sensor used to detect the moisture in air could be used if you have a closed environment for your honey. say inside of the hive

do you need an instant (more or less) you would need to use a refractometer. I have not seen one for use with an arduino.

Thanks for the advice guys! Yes, I can use a honey moisture refractometer, there is a digital one, but I don't know how to utilize it in Arduino. Plus it is very expensive.

I need the arduino to process the data of the moisture content into our system. Has anyone know how a digital refrac can somehow be used in Arduino?

Your replies would be a great help  Thank you!

That page doesn't give any info on how to use it. Send an email to Sainsmart and tell them you won't buy it until they send you the pinout and datasheet showing how to use it.

Looks like an optical instrument to me - no digital interface at all.

That's a big help. Scratch that idea .
