Horizontal printing with Serial.print/ln

My question is how do you get Serial.print/ln to print horizontally as well as vertically. The information in the tutorials does not show how to format the Serial.print/ln to do this. I'm looking at having values printed horizontally with comma separation and printing groups of values printing vertically, I have looked at Arduino tutorials and the Forum and cannot find any examples or references for printing horizontally, am I missing something.

Successive Serial.print() calls go horizontal. It only goes to the next line when you use Serial.println().

Serial.print(val1);
Serial.print(",");
Serial.print(val2);
Serial.print(",");
Serial.println(val3);

majenko: It only goes to the next line when you use Serial.println().

Or use Serial.print('\n'); or print a string with a '\n' in it.

Well, yeah, but that's what Serial.println() does.

true, but sometimes you see string like Serial.println("temp monitor\nversion1.0\nJohn Doe\n"); which have a lot of formatting in it.

Thanks gentlemen the info helped a lot.
