Hot plugging HC05

I have a Nano connected to a HC05 Bluetooth transceiver via logic level shifter.
Is there any significant risk in hot plugging the HC05?

It depends on the transceiver, connectors and the level shifter. Can you post a simple schematic and links to the "Technical" information on the hardware devices.

Unless the device is designed for got plugging you must be careful when doing so.

  1. You should connect the power pins first.
  2. The data pins may be floating before you connect them. This can cause some weird behavior and you should have some way to get the device into a known state.

For clarification, I'm not expecting to do this routinely. It's just that, with the rest of my circuit wired as it is, I need to unplug the HC05 every time I update the sketch ... and sometimes I forget to power-down first. And I just want to make sure I'm not running a significant risk of frying something.

I don't think there is significant risk of damaging anything. In theory it is possible but with the currents involved it is unlikely.
