My Arduino board worked on previous Arduino IDE 1.6.8. On installing 1.6.12 My Wemos board was not recognized and this was fixed by cloning into hardware directory from GitHub for esp8266.
Wemos issue is resolved but this one is pending.
Help required.

Regards

Also have the same issue. Started a thread but no replies so far.

Must be a bug with 1.6.12

I have same problem :(

THOR-00: I have same problem :(

Given the age of this thread, how about you start a new one giving details on exactly the problem you are facing?

Hello,

Did you already fix it?

I'm having the same problem.

Did you install Arduino SAMD Boards? If not, try this:

  • Tools > Board > Boards Manager
  • Wait for downloads to finish
  • Click on "Arduino SAMD Boards"
  • Click "Install"
  • Wait for download to finish
  • Click "Close"
  • Try uploading again.

Yes, I already did. The strange thing is that everything was working yesterday and today suddenly this error occurred. I have no idea what the cause is

I just installed the newest versions of both Adafruit SAMD Boards and Arduino SAMD Boards and I can't reproduce the problem.

I think it's time to take some drastic action. Be aware this is somewhat advanced and will remove all boards you have installed via Boards Manager:

  • Click the link on the line following File > Preferences > More preferences can be edited directly in the file. This will open the Arduino15 (or similar name depending on OS) folder.
  • Delete all files and folders under the Arduino15 folder except for preferences.txt. Please be very careful when deleting things from your computer. When in doubt, back up!
  • Restart the Arduino IDE
  • Use Boards Manager to reinstall Arduino SAMD Boards and Adafruit SAMD Boards
  • Cross your fingers
  • Try an upload

Unfortunately it didn't work... I'm so frustrated. Just no idea what to do

Please do this:

  • File > Preferences > Show verbose output during: > compilation (check) > OK
  • Sketch > Verify/Compile
  • After the compilation fails you’ll see a button on the right side of the orange bar “Copy error messages”. Click that button.
  • Paste the error messages in a reply here USING CODE TAGS (</> button on the toolbar).
