Hello everybody i need a help with my project. i have six 12v motors , three nano arduino and three l298n motor drive, every two motor connected with one l298n and one arduino nano, each l298n need a power supply to run the motor . My question, How can i power up all the l298n with the same power supply? I don’t want a 9v battery because the motors will run all the day and the battery will need to be replaced over and over, can i use a 9v adapter?
Can we guess the three systems will be close together so the wires to the battery will be relatively short? There is no problems connecting three of your projects to one power supply/battery. Just make sure you understand the total current requirements.
Thank you for your help , I'm a new in the arduino, how can calculate the total current? And what it used for ? How can i choose the good adapter?
Simple addition of the current required by each powered component. However, since you are using 12 volt motors, but powering with 9 volts(STRANGE!), the current required by the motors is unknown, until you measure it.
Do you care about efficiency? The L29x drivers are ancient and inefficient technology. They drop 2V to ovrr 4V of the motor power and dissipate the power as waste heat. Just look at those heat sinks.
Pololu, and othrrs, offer modern higjh efficiency MOSFET output drivers. Pololu - Brushed DC Motor Drivers.
Choose motor driver and powér supply that will handle the motor stall current with extra for ovehead. Stall current should be listed in the motor data sheet or name plate or can be measured.
Hi, @aishaenezi
Can you please tell us what your project is?
This will help to provide you with more accurate answers.
A link to the specs/data of your motors would be helpful too.
Do you have a DMM? Digital MultiMeter?
Have you got a single driver version of your project working?
Thanks.. Tom..
