how do I control large industrial AC servo motors + drivers

I often visit the local scrap metal yard where I find many servo motors and drivers on machinery.

Has anyone had any luck controlling large servo's with an Arduino?

can you get feedback on the position of the motor?

can you precisely control the positon of the motor?

there's very little info on the matter, so any info or links to good tutorial would be appreiated.

Without knowing which motor you picked up, there is no way to provide accurate information.

Pay attention to anything on the motor that has wires or plugs. Those might be feedback devices.
Consider posting pictures. Maybe someone here might be familiar with it.

All of these questions can only be answered from the operating manuals of the particular driver involved. They often have multiple ways to control them, and can be configured in various modes - reading the manual is the first step.
