How do I mount Arduino onto my Robosapien ? *Solved*

Hi all,

I have a robosapien that I have wedged using the arduino. I now need to somehow attach my Uno R2 to the bot.

I have zero mechanical engineering skills so I'am asking advice on the best way to achieve this, here are the requirements:

-I would prefer the mount to be temporary as I have a pro mini on the way so this just for testing purposes.
-I would prefer not to drill or otherwise modify the bot chassis just some way of 'sticking' the arduino onto the bot.
-I have a distance sensor (HC-SR04) as part of the project, where is the best place to put this and whats the best way to attach it ?
-I have some acrylic lying around so I could make some kind of custom housing if needed.

So far I have thought of using either sticky velcro of just masking tap the components on, but obviously I do not want to damage any of the components, the tools I have at my disposal are a glue gun, solder iron and a hand drill.

The bot is not open in anyway, I have threaded my project wires through a screw hole and have screwed together the chest shell back to the back shell so it's essentially a stock robosapien body at this point.

All help/advice appreciated.

Cheers

Double sided sticky pads are ideal for temporary fixing and maybe a small blob from a hot glue gun to be sure as the robot bangs about a bit and may dislodge heavier components. The hot glue should click off the plastic body when no longer needed but to be sure try a small blob first to test.

Do you have 'blu-tac' there? It's a type of putty which can be moulded to any shape and remains tacky for a long time - usually used for sticking posters to walls etc but would also do for temporarily securing sensors and PCBs to an awkward plastic shape without damaging it.

Solved

Thanks for the answers guys.

@PeterH: Thanks for the suggestion, I've tried using blue-tac before and it's fine for flat surfaces but any thing curvy and you need alot to keep things stable.

@Riva: This is what worked for me so thank you very much for the suggestion, I bought some heavy duty double sided foam tape from a pound shop (99 cents store) and it worked like a charm, easily removable yet strong holding.

If anyone else needs to do this here is a picture of the tape, available at poundland in the UK

Thanks for the help.
