How do these work?

Just wondering if anyone knows how these projected touchscreens actually detect touches?

E.g.

I can’t quite see how they’ve made a usable system out of this (assuming it is usable) and would appreciate a few pointers (pun intended).

finger tracking normally on those colour ones.

I think the projected laser keyboard might look at the reflectance of the letters to work out which are covered

Hmmm... that's along the lines of what I was thinking.

I'd love to see one in person so I can find out how well it deals with touch typists. :)

I tried one of the original-type laser ones and not too well. It was too slow for fast touch typing and your other fingers kinda got in the way. It was kinda 1 finger typing. It was faster to use the mobile device that they were designed to be used with (blackberry or similar)

Cheers Mow.

That's useful to know - before I tried to get my employer to re-fit my workstations. :D

:-?

If you want a cool screen on your desk then get a multitouch display fitted in it.
