I cant figure out how to hook up the arduino stamp to the usb adapter any help would be great.
Can you provide a link to the specific model (and who manufactures it) you are talking about?

I tried that and it didnt work :-/
What didn't work? Were you unable to upload sketches? Did the hardware go up in smoke?
i was unable to upload anything to the board
Were the power lights on?
Were you using the IDE to upload data?
Did the tx and rx lights flash?
Can you post a picture of your hardware setup?
The TX and RX pins on the stamp are the first 2 pins on the top right, in your picture. You have wires to the first and third pins. Move the red wire to the RX pin, and maybe the stamp will have something to receive.
It's hard to tell from the picture, but I'm not sure that the ground wire actually goes to ground. The 3 wires on the bottom of the stamp should be, from left to right, +V, +V, Gnd.
It's a good idea to be consistent in wire colors. +V wires should be red. Gnd wires should be black or green.
Wires all the same color cause confusion, head scratching, and smoke.
I believe you need to add a reset button so you can reset the board before upload as the mini does not have auto-reset.
The middle wire below the mini is connected to +V and Reset. Since the +V comes from the USB cable, unplugging it and plugging it back in performs the reset. Or, so says this:
Since the +V comes from the USB cable, unplugging it and plugging it back in performs the reset.
I wonder if the OP knows that?
It also looks like the RX line is one hole too far to the left!
