How good is STM32?

I'm thinking about getting a STM32 because it has more memory, but is it any good?

At?

I'm confused...
At what?

That is my question :upside_down_face:

What is your question? Can you be specific? I don't know how to answer that.

You ask “is it any good” I respond “at what?”
It will not make a good drinks coaster but if you have a project that you need some other functionality it may or may not be good at that.

“Good” is a relative term. Good at…

Aha. I see what you mean. :+1::crazy_face:

Is it easy to use with the IDE? Is it fully supported by the IDE? Can I use any/all Arduino modules/shields with it? Is there anything I need to look out for when getting one of these (ie. rubbish clones, different versions of it etc etc)?

Look at "Bluepill" in the context of STM32 and look at this site: https://www.stm32duino.com/.

It is good (32 bit with a reasonable spec) and can be used with the Arduino IDE using an official ST Microsystems core. If you start going outside the supplied library functions and into the lower layers of development environment or start using the Cube IDE, that is a whole new learning curve.

I use a cheap ST-Link V2 programmer but you can get away without one.

This is the board I was going to get (for free!!)

If it is free, take it now!

Yes, I have a coupon code that gets it for free (excluding shipping), so I'm pretty happy!!

$4.

I thought so
It costs $3 WITH SHIPPING on Aliexpress

Link?!? And do you trust AliExpress?:wink:

certainly.
I only buy there.
All arduino that I use - only from there, excluding the very first one, which I bought the original.
Many local companies buy on Ali and then resell to you with a markup.

I was wrong, not even 3 dollars, but about two:

So you would get a CS32F103C8T6 clone (CKS brand) on the Bluepill. At least now they admit that it is a clone.
Which in fact is smart, because when I bought them in the past and then claimed that they were fakes I got my money back and had 10 of them for free.

Comes out at 10 cents cheaper because they add shipping for Australians...

That's devious.

Well....sort of.... but not as devious as the seller, as they were sold to me as genuine STMicro chips.
