Hi guys.
I might be a little over reacting, but I found it strange .
- My Leonardo's atmega gets warm when powered from USB.
- If it's powered by barrel jack (12v, center positive) - it's hot, and voltage regulator too.
If it comes to 1) -> I've made a dozen of atmega32 projects, non of them was even a bit warmer that env. But they all were based on DIP packages, so power dissipation was better.
If it comes to 2) -> 12V is ok for 1117-5. But I left it running for around 4hours, sitting nearby I felt warm and this strange smell of pcb... It was so hot that even proto-shield attached was warm. Voltage regulator was really uncomfortable too touch, atmega too.
But, everything works fine. Sketches upload, and do what they should.
Just asking if anyone here has Leonardo connected to 12V and can tell me if he's getting hot too?
Or should I take hot-air and replace V.Reg or Atmega.
P.S:
I'm unable to check current draw at the moment.
Leonardo is naked, nothing conncted to it.
Sketch does not matter.
