How to connect dartboard matrix to an arduino

Hi

I'm currently trying to connect an electronic dartboard to my arduino mega and i am not quite sure what the best way is to do so.

The dartboard matrix interface looks like this:

As far as i can tell thats conducting material printed onto plastic. The closest thing i can compare it to would be a flat flex cable with a pitch of 2.00mm.

I can't just solder cables onto there, since the plastic underneath would melt.
I have looked for flat flex connectors, but i could only find some with a pitch of 0.50mm or 1.00mm.

If somebody knows where i can buy or order a connector which would fit or has another idea how to connect this to an arduino i would be very grateful.

Thx and Cheers

Check with a soldering iron on the corner, it could well be the plastic can take some heat.

Measure the pitch there are lots of connectors available.

another idea how to connect this to an arduino

Try using bare conductive paint.

Lay the wires on and fix with a dab of this. You might have to scrape away smudges with a scalpel once it has dried. And then provide some mechanical support like surrounding it in hot melt glue.

Hi,
thx for the answer i will definitely try out the conductive paint.

Measure the pitch there are lots of connectors available.

I did measure the pitch and it is (as also mentioned in my original post) 2.00mm.
if you could link me to a vendor which has 2.00mm pitch flat flex connectors that would be greate, because i was searching for it for about 2 hours yesterday and could only find 0.50mm or 1.00mm or in some rare cases 2.54mm but nowhere 2.00mm.

Thx again for the answer.

Another solution is to design your own piece of PCB that fits the flexible connector. The 2 screw holes will help attaching them together.

You can also improvise with this.

or this.

I think it might be a special because I have also found that there is no 2.0mm pitch connectors. But how about using 1.0mm pitch but twice as long:-

Hi,

just wanted to say that i used the Bare Conductive paint and hot molten glue as you suggested and it worked just fine

thx for the help
