Hi, i was building this coil strength controller for weeks now...
i got 60v supply unit. could someone help me with this. i have tried
the opamp approach using opa458t, i build the basic circuit suggested in
the datasheet but i burn the opamp.. i was thinking another approach but
i couldnt think of any.. im still a newbie in electronics circuitry. please help...
I assume with "coil" you mean solenoid.
If so, you probably will need an NPN power darlington or a 100volt logic mosfet, a back EMF diode, and base/gate resistors.
Best to explain first what you want to do, and what type of coil we are talking about.

That diagram is not a solenoid driver.

This could work.
Drive the transistor from a PWM output of the Arduino.
The PWM value (0-255) controls the power of the solenoid.
Do you really need 60volt for that solenoid....
Leo..
Forget about regulating the voltage.
Voltage regulation needs big transistors and big heatsinks.
Use PWM.
PWM switches the coil on/off very fast.
By changing the PWM on/off time, you control the POWER to the solenoid.

im building a claw machine anyway for home use..
Reminds me of a "The big bang theory" episode..
But on topic:
Don't forget a fly back diode when controlling a coil or solenoid with PWM: Flyback diode - Wikipedia

can you give me a hint on how the circuit may look like sir WAWA..
Start with 12volt, before you try 60volt.
