How to control voltage for a model railroad

I am building a model railroad christmas scene that can be operated by my grandchilderen.
All the lights, actuators, motors and servo's I have running with several arduino nano boards.

Now here is the problem, I can not get the powersuply for the railroad working via arduino.
It has to work as follows, push a button and the power has to increase slowly to a maximum of 34V ( somwhere in the code I have to be able to specify the max output), stay there for a surtain amount of time and then slowly decrease to zero until the next push of the button.

I do not know where to begin.

You have an analog modelrailroad?

“ I am building a model railroad christmas scene that can be operated by my grandchilderen.”

Sure sure.

What current will be taken from the power supply ?

What is the lowest voltage level ?

Perhaps a boost converter who’s adjustment potentiometer is connected to a small stepping motor.

What is the 34V supply powering. It doesn't seem likely to be any of the components you've mentioned so far.

Interesting question with several hundred answers. A few things we need is what brand and model are all of the components. Include links for each one. It appears you built something please post the schematic, not a frizzy drawing showing all the connections power and ground. How do you know the max is 34 volts? Is it AC or DC? Can a person ride on the train? your comment is apprpro: "I do not know where to begin." neither do we!

Are you giving up on the project? It has been over a week since you last posted.
